Podcast #4: The Mystery of John Pooler Hamilton (1829 - 1895)

Glen Hamilton

Our Uncle Who "Left Between Two Days."

The image below (from the California Digital Archives) and my attempt at a color restoration is an image of the musicians of the 3rd Regiment California Volunteer Infantry circa 1864, at Camp Douglas, Utah Territory.

Uncle John Pooler Hamilton was one of the drummers. The two drummers are seated in the front row at the left. This is the only known photograph that likely contains an image of John P. Hamilton.

Have a listen to his incredible story. I think it's our best family history podcast yet.

This is the drum in the iconic picture of the camp band that may contain an image of our grand uncle, John P. Hamilton. I took this picture during a visit to the Fort Douglas Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2017.
