Supplina Hamilton's Oregon Trail Donation Land Claim
Linked is a PDF of the paperwork of the proving of Supplina's original Oregon Donation Land Claim from 1851, Donation Certificate #2969. This is one of the big reasons why our families now largely live in the Northwest of the United States... it was the reward for emigration to the West.
The PDF has affidavits from his friends and neighbors, John Alkrie Powell (Supplina's mentor and Oregon Trail wagon train captain... and minister that married Supplina and Jane) and the brothers Robert and Joseph Earl.
There is significant family history information in this document.
I've overlayed a donation land claim historical survey map on top of a Google Earth image to show where his 138 acre claim is located today.

Pin marking the location of Supplina Hamilton's Oregon Donation Land Claim, east of what is now Albany, Oregon, Linn County and a short distance East and South of the major landmark in the area, Knox Butte. This old survey map from the Linn County, Oregon Surveyor's office shows the land in Township 11 South, Range 2 West in Section 6 in Linn County, Oregon. Supplina Hamilton's (S. Hamilton) claim number 2969 is clearly visible. Some of his near neighbors are Joseph Earl and John A. Powell. Supplina first arrived at his land claim on September 3, 1851. The map has been overlayed on top of an image from Google Earth.
