Glen Hamilton · October 18, 2026
Lieutenant Reuben Judd (1733–1815) was an early settler and farmer in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and a fourth-generation descendant of colonist Deacon Thomas Judd. During the American Revolution, he served on South Hadley's Committees of Correspondence, Inspection, and Safety (1774–1778), was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 4th Hampshire County Regiment (1776), and commanded a militia company reinforcing the Northern Army in 1777. He married three times (Elizabeth White, Elizabeth Smith, and Submit Graves) and fathered thirteen children. Through his son Supplina ("Pliny") Judd, Reuben is the grandfather of Altha (Judd) Hamilton, wife of John D. Hamilton. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in South Hadley.
